A schoolteacher by trade, Bob Lawrie won football fame in the Ipswich schools competition.
He later followed his brothers into the senior ranks with the famous Bundamba Rovers club.
Queensland-born Lawrie, a polished right half, had a short spell with Sydney Leichhardt and Portsmouth in England.
He captained Australia on the 1950 tour of South Africa and three times against China.
His record includes 22 Queensland caps, eight full internationals in 10 national appearances and more than 300 club games.
