Maple Cinnamon Mixed Nut Butter

This maple cinnamon nut butter uses a combination of three different nuts to make the ultimate homemade nut butter you'll ever try. It's good on everything!

It's not often that I say a recipe is life-changing, but this nut butter totally is. So much so that I've not only gotten all my friends and family hooked, but I also don't ever buy nut butter at the store anymore. I actually don't even walk down the nut butter aisle. EVER.

Instead, I'm just making jar after jar of this stuff. It's heavenly.

This isn't your traditional jar of almond butter. This is a maple cinnamon nut butter that actually combines three types of nuts and then is jazzed up with some maple syrup, cinnamon, vanilla and sea salt. It's slightly sweet, completely smooth and absolutely delicious on everything.

No more shelling out $10+ on a jar of almond butter, friends. This recipe is wallet-friendly and crazy simple to make at home. Here's how we do it:

What I love about this recipe is that it's also very customizable. Whether you're allergic to certain types of nuts, like different spices, or feel like mixing three nuts into one butter is a little much for you…that's okay! Just swap in what you have on hand/what works for you and I promise, you'll see what I mean when I say “life-changing”.

And in case you need a little inspiration for how you can use up this yummy nut butter, here are some of my favorite ways to eat it:

Your turn…

Instructions

  • Add nuts to a parchment lined baking sheet (or toaster oven sheet) and drizzle with maple syrup. Sprinkle on seasonings then stir to combine.
  • Toast nuts for 5 - 6 minutes until fragrant and starting to brown. Alternatively you toast them in the oven at 350ºF for 15 - 20 minutes.
  • Allow nuts to cool slightly then transfer to a food processor. Process on high until smooth and creamy, about 10 - 15 minutes depending on your food processor. You might also have to scrape the sides a few times to help keep the nuts blending.

  1. Hello from France!
This nut butter is to die for ! Unfortunately it was a bit much for my small mixer which broke down… can you recommend a powerful but not too expensive food processor please? I’d like something long-lasting but I am on a budget… thanks !

    1. Oh shoot! You really do need one that’s powerful to make nut butter as the motor has to work for a long time. Here’s the one I use: http://amzn.to/2AXSNee

I fully stand behind this brand and think it’s amazing. I use mine weekly and my parents have also have the same brand for nearly 20 years!

  2. This is honestly the BEST nut butter I have ever tasted! The second time I made it, i omited the maple syrup (for a sugar free option), and it was fabulous too. I’ve shared the finished product with friends and now they are all hooked too. I truly couldn’t believe how easy it was to make nut butter. I also loved roasting my vanilla beans to make into powder. Simply delicious! Thanks for sharing!

    1. I’m thrilled you enjoyed it!! It’s my favorite also and yes, is still delish without the syrup! You should also try plain cashew vanilla butter — soooo good!

  3. My boyfriend absolutely loves this (and so do I). Will definitely be doing again. Thanks for the recipe 🙂

  4. This looks delicious! I love homemade nut butters! The instructions say to toast 5-7 min. or in the oven for 15-20 min. Is the 5-7 min. on top of the stove? Can’t wait to try it!

    1. The 5 – 7 is in the actual toaster oven 🙂 I usually set mine to the medium setting and let it go!

      1. I used walnuts and it tastes great. I do know that I will have to save money for a better food provessor though, it is quite a job for my machine ????

  5. Don’t have vanilla bean powder where I am and instead of using vanilla extract, could you use a vanilla bean?

    1. Yes! You certainly could 🙂 I would say half the amount probably and mix it in while you’re blending not before toasting. Let me know how it goes!

  7. Nut butters on a slice of apple or filling the cavity in celery is my favorite.

    Thanks for this new recipe.

This recipe seems wonderful, but would like it better if I could use honey instead of maple syrup. Not a fan of maple anything.
    You have a wonderful site.

    1. You could certainly try! I’m planning to make a honey roasted peanut butter soon, so I’ll be sure to share!

  9. I just made this. You are right–it is so flippin’ good! Enjoying some on some GF bread right now.

  10. Just made this –and it is amazing!!! Wont last long in my house. I used Pecans, Cashews & Peanuts though. Love making real peanut butter!

  11. Hi Alyssa,

Do you let the food processor run straight for the 15/20 minutes, or after how many minutes do you stop it (to scrap down the sides)?
    Thanks !
    Cynthia

    1. Maybe scrape it down a couple of times. If you see that it seems like everything has pushed up the sides and isn’t touching the blade, then scrape it down and keen on blendin’ 🙂

    1. You certainly could, but you might get a slight alcohol flavor. That’s why I like to use vanilla powder!

  12. How long will this last in the fridge? It sounds scrumptious, but I’m not a big nut butter person and I don’t want it to spoil before I can eat it all. But this sounds like the substitution I need for your quinoa breakfast bowl, since I don’t like peanut butter. Thank you for the fantastic recipes.
