Born in Italy in 1932, migrating with his family to Australia as a baby, Julius Re was very active in Western Australian football and on the national scene.
He was largely responsible for the formation of the WA Soccer Federation as the inaugural secretary and then president from 1964 to 1972.
Re also played a part in the formation of the Australian Soccer Federation in 1961, holding positions including chairman of the ASF Referee committee.
He organised five Australian amateur carnivals and managed representative teams from Perth at tournaments in Malaysia, Thailand and Jakarta.
Julius was tour leader of the visiting star-studded Manchester United team which played multiple games around Australia and culminated in a breathtaking 7-0 win over WA in front of a record 21,000 crowd at the WACA Ground in 1967.
Re was made a life member of the Australian Soccer Federation in March 1970.
