2022 Key Programs & Initiatives

1. Club Development

To support the growth of women and girls’ football we will soon launch ‘Club Changer’ - the new Club Development Program funded through Legacy ‘23 - to be implemented in grassroots clubs from early 2023. This program, in partnership with the Australian Sports Commission, will empower community clubs to strategically plan to increase capacity and participation growth and support them in creating inclusive and welcoming environments for women and girls in all aspects of the game.


2. Sporting Schools 

Term 2, 2022 saw a major milestone in the Sporting Schools program. Football was ranked the top selected sport within the program, where 38 National Sporting Organisations could have been chosen by schools. Equating to approximately 2,500 football sessions delivered within a 50-day period, Term 2 results was a 60% increase from the previous year and the highest number of programs recorded since Football Australia’s inception into the program in 2017.

3. NSW Football Legacy Fund

The NSW Football Legacy Fund (‘the Fund’) is an initiative established by the NSW Government, Football NSW (FNSW) and Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) as a result of NSW hosting FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023™ matches in Sydney.  

Since the announcement in April this year, eight full-time roles have been recruited across FNSW and NNSW. In addition, a total of $650,000 was available in Round 1 for Participation projects. Applications have since closed with successful applicants to be advised from December 2022 onwards. Round 2 will open in 2023.
