William "Bill" Henderson was born in Sydney on 23 November in 1929 and played his career as a goalkeeper.
He made his Socceroos debut on 1953, becoming the first second-generation Socceroo, after his father Andy had represented the national team in 1924.
"There were no emails or text messages those days so I only found out I was selected by going to the city with my dad and buying the paper and my name was on the list, which was fantastic," Henderson told SBS back in 2019.
"The match against the Chinese in Newcastle was almost 30 years to the day after my dad had played against the same 'country' in Sydney so it was a classic case of history repeating itself."
Henderson played 16 times for Australia, including six 'A' internationals, and was part of the team that played in the 1956 Olympic Games.
He spent most of his club career at the Granville Magpies, also spending a few years at Auburn.
