Legacy '23

Football in Australia is the most inclusive, diverse and representative sport in the country with
1.9 million participants nationwide across 2,400+ community clubs.

Females currently represent 26% of players, born in over 150 different nations.

Hosting the FIFA Women’s World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™ is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to realise a truly meaningful legacy for football, the community and the nation.

Legacy ‘23 is a strategic plan to harness the growth of women’s football and deliver enduring benefits for Australia’s largest community sport beyond 2023, including becoming the first community sport to reach gender parity in participation.

Investment has been secured from Federal & State Governments for Participation, High Performance and Community Facilities. However, more support is required and we will continue to work with Government and commercial partners to unlock the full potential of this plan.
